Acid Springfield is an experimental audio project by creatives Ben Mackie and Erica Stevens. Drawing from a vast range of sources and contexts, Acid Springfield aims to offer new ways of creating and incorporating sound.
In conceptualising the branding, inspiration was initially drawn from the project's name itself which references the fictional town of Springfield from treasured television series The Simpsons. Building on this, the identity references the show's iconic and expansive intro sequence and develops the cloud into a soft-shaped logo and motif designed to conjure ideas of having your head (blissfully) in the clouds, freely dreaming, thinking and creating.
The generous palette of four contrasting core typefaces reflects the open and collaborative nature of the project. Frolicking layouts and hazy graphic elements merge together to form a textured identity that speaks to a spectrum of sound and feeling that is at once new and nostalgic, bold and soft, ambient and playful.
